Organic Israeli Wine- Kosher

Bashan Wineries is a kosher, young, boutique winery located on Moshav Avnei Eitan on the southern Golan Heights. Founded by Emmanuel Dassa and Uri Rapp, Bashan is Israel's only producer of kosher bio-organic wines.

The wines to date are based on Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in the winery's vineyards. The Nave 2007 is a blend made from 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot grapes and aged in oak barriques over the course of 14 months.

Organic wines do not have added sulfites over those that occur naturally in the wine, as opposed to non-organically grown grapes, which may have sulfites added during the wine making process to prolong shelf life.

Bashan's first releases were from the 2004 vintage. The winery has a current production of 10,000 to 15,000 bottles annually, with plans to increase that to 100,000 bottles.

Israeli wine critic Daniel Rogov rates the new winery as a "solid and reliable producer."
